Nursery Room
Our Nursery Room at Scallywags is well equipped and provides a safe and stimulating indoor and outdoor environment for our under 2’s.
Our qualified, experienced and dedicated team of Early Years Educators are always on hand, using our Key Person approach to help each child develop and learn, encouraging their play and demonstrating new ideas and activities.
The Room
With a range of freely accessible, age-appropriate toys, sensory baskets, books, interactive games and activities, alongside adult initiated sand, paint, water and other messy play the fun is endless in this room. There is a separate, calming sleep room attached for day time naps and a separate changing room to ensure the children get the best care possible.
The Day
At Scallywags we encourage parents/carers to take the lead on the best care, sleep and feeding routines for your child. We welcome you in for a settling session to meet the team and share all this information with your Key Worker, we then replicate this care plan as best we can at Scallywags.
Our team complete a daily diary for parents/carers, outlining when their child has slept, what they have eaten and what they have enjoyed throughout the day as well as updates throughout the week on Tapestry.
The team are always happy to discuss any aspect of care or the day in general during handovers.
Scallywags Learning Journey
Each child that joins us will begin a Scallywags ‘Learning Journey’ which is available to parents/carers via a secure online platform called FAMLY.
Parents/carers can also upload to this platform to show our team what their children have been up to, including new exciting things, like first words, first steps, outings and holidays. We enjoy sharing this with the children at Scallywags.
Outdoor space
The Nursery children have access to their own dedicated outside play area, with soft ground matting for comfortable crawling, a sand pit, a slide, a lovely play house and sensory equipment. This garden has just been renovated, adding artificial grass and a Pergola for more shade!
