As parents we recognise you as your child’s first and most enduring educator. We aim to work in partnership with all of our parents and carers as we know this will have a positive impact on each child’s learning and development.

Prior to starting at Scallywags, new families will be invited for some settling in sessions during which parents will be able to leave their child for short periods. Parents will be given an “All About Me” Booklet for completion which will help the staff learn more about each new child during the settling in process.

Once your child has been for a few settling in sessions, the Room Leader will, appoint a key person for you and your child.  Along with the Room Leader, they will be your main contact at Scallywags and you can discuss any aspect of your child's care or education with them.  Your Key Person will take a special interest in your child's well being and will monitor and observe your child’s development and record their progress in their “Learning Journey”.  This will be available at all times for you to view and we always appreciate families adding their comments or observaions, or any new skills or milestones they might reach at home.  

Other information is continually relayed to parents, via individual parents meetings, progress reports (PLODS), daily feedback or our monthly newsletter.
