The Scallywags gardens are seen as an extension to the children’s rooms. They are divided into three main areas:-
The first, is garden area just outside Toddlers and Tinies rooms, that the children can wander in and out of during their play. In the garden, they can relax in the willow house, make tea in the playhouse, or sail away for an adventure in the boat. During this "free flow" play, any activity that takes place indoors, can also be taken outdoors- for example, children can take a book outside to read, or have their painting equipment set up outside if they choose to.
Scallywags also has a further garden adjacent to the Pre-school Room, with several raised beds which enables the children to grow their own vegetables and flowers that will be used for snacks or taken home. The children are able to learn and experience how things grow and develop which helps to give them an understanding of how to look after plants and flowers.
The third is a large play area which is suitable for bike riding, parachute play and ball games. We have a wide range of equipment and toys that children of all ages can experience and play with in the outdoor areas.
