Welcome to Scallywags Child Care Centre

Scallywags Child Care Centre provides the highest possible standard of childcare, combined with a first rate nursery education for your child. We are an 88 place private Child Care Centre based on the Wey Valley Campus on the main Dorchester Road into Weymouth. We care for babies and children aged from 3 months to 11 years. There are parking facilities adjacent to the Child Care Centre and there is a regular bus service that stops outside the entrance to the campus.

Scallywags is located in a fantastic purpose built Child Care Centre that opened in March 2009 previously operating from nearby facilities it has been owned and managed by the same family since opening  in September 1988.

Scallywags provide a secure, happy, friendly and stimulating environment, which is well planned and organised. We offer a safe environment where children can explore, experiment, plan and make decisions for themselves and we encourage children’s development and stimulate their creativity with a structured environment through purposeful play and activities. 

We aim to offer a unique balance of practitioner expertise - this includes an Early Years Teacher with Professional Status (EYP) and Nursery Nurses who hold recognised childcare qualifications mostly to NVQ 3, or who are receiving training toward a recognised qualification. All our practitioners attend frequent training in early years education and work together well as a team.

We offer full flexibility to meet your needs whether you need a few hours a day to full-time care, Scallywags are unique in there offer of individual tailored bookings to meet each parents needs. 

Scallywags offer two different types of bookings, either “term-time only” (ideal for teachers) when fees are payable only during term-time- no retainers or fees during school holidays, or  “All year around” when children attend every week the nursery is open.
